A group tour on classical mythology with the restored ceiling painting The Gods of Mount Olympus serving as focal point.
The guide will provide an introduction to classical mythology in the courtyard of the Rubens House. The choice of the Rubens House as the starting point for the tour is no accident: Rubens purchased this house upon returning to Antwerp after living in Italy for eight years. For the renovations made to his house, he was inspired by the antique architectural styles and classical mythology which he came to learn more about in Italy.
The second part of the tour takes us to the Kolveniershof, which is situated behind the Rubens House. It is here that the just-restored ceiling painting The Gods of Mount Olympus can be viewed. With this ceiling painting serving as illustration, the guide will expound further on the ancient world of the gods.
