The Rubenianum is a knowledge centre specialised in art from the late Middle Ages until the eighteenth century, with the emphasis on the Low Countries. It is accessible to the public and supports both the interested amateur and the specialised researcher.
The Rubenianum gathers information on the old Flemish fine arts until 1800, paying considerable attention to the Antwerp school of the 17th century. The documentation centre has an international reputation in this area. Nowhere in the world is the information on Rubens so complete and so expert. The Rubenianum also publishes a multi-volume catalogue of the work of Rubens (Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard).
The library contains 45,000 books, reprints, exhibition and collection catalogues and an extensive photo library with more than 100,000 reproductions relating to Flemish fine art up to 1800.
