Opening hours

The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., except on Monday. The museum is exceptionally open on Easter Monday and Whit Monday. Last admission 30 minutes before closing.

Closed on Monday, 1 January, 1 May, Ascension Day, 1 November and 25 December.​

 

Getting there

By train

  • Take the train to Antwerp Central Station. Then change to the underground, premetro 15. Get off at Meir. Walk down Meir until you see a fountain in a square to your right (Wapper) and turn right. The Rubens House is located at number 9-11.

By premetro or tram

  • Premetro 3, 5, 9 and 15
    Get off at Meir. Walk down Meir until you see a fountain in a square to your right (Wapper) and turn right. The Rubens House is located at number 9-11.
  • Tram 4
    Get off at Groenplaats. Walk along Schoenmarkt and Meirbrug. Cross over Huidevetterstraat. Walk down Meir until you see a fountain in a square to your right (Wapper) and turn right. The Rubens House is located at number 9-11.
  • Tram 7
    Get off at Meirbrug and follow the above directions.
  • Tram 11, 12 and 24
    Get off at Sint-Katelijnevest. Walk up this street and turn left at the top of the street. Walk down Meir until you see a fountain in a square to your right (Wapper) and turn right. The Rubens House is located at number 9-11.

By bus

  • Bus 22: Get off at Groenplaats and follow the directions for tram 4.

By car

  • Ring road around Antwerp, exit 5a Antwerp Centre/Scheldt. Follow the signs for P Meir Schouwburg to P "Shopping Meir"; P "Van Dyck"; P "Stadsschouwburg"; P "Inno Antwerpen"; P "Hopland" or P "Horta".

Caution: low emission zone as of 1 February 2017

Are you travelling to Antwerp by car? Then remember that the entire city centre of Antwerp and Linkeroever/Left Bank are a low emission zone as of 1 February 2017. Vehicles that emit too much soot and particulate matter may no longer enter the low emission zone. Check before coming to Antwerp whether your vehicle complies with the conditions for entry with this test.

All vehicles with a foreign number plate (except Dutch number plates) that comply with the conditions for entry must be registered once-only. Registration is free and can be done up to 24 hours after entering the zone. Register your car here

Combination ticket with a visit of Museum Mayer van den Bergh (valid for one week)

Museum Mayer van den Bergh is located just 500 metres from the Rubens House and is definitely worth a visit. Here you can see masterpieces from the fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, including Pieter Bruegel the Elder's Mad Meg. We offer a discounted combination tariff:

  • Full tariff: You pay 10 euros instead of 16 euros.
  • Discounted tariff: You pay 8 euros instead of 12 euros.
  • Free: You are eligible for this tariff if you fulfil one of the conditions described under Admission prices.

Antwerp City Card

The Antwerp City Card is your key to discovering all the assets of Antwerp in 24, 48 or 72 hours. This card entitles you to free admission to all of Antwerp's museums including the Rubens House. The card costs 25, 32 of 37 euros and is available from Antwerp Tourism & Convention.

Access

Wheelchair and pushchair access

The Rubens House is a historic building and has no elevator.  Access for wheelchair users and pushchairs is limited to the ground floor and the garden. The museum's employees will gladly assist wheelchair users if necessary. The museum also has an accessible toilet.
